No. You can import games manually via PGN, or create an Enpasso account and use the platform independently. Connecting Lichess is optional and simply makes importing games faster.
Go to Games → Import. You can paste a PGN directly, or connect your Lichess account in Settings to import games automatically.
Coaching credits pay for your AI coach: its replies and game reviews. Free accounts get a one-time trial to try the coach. Pro gives you 500 credits per billing cycle, and Elite gives you 4,000.
Monthly plan credits on Pro and Elite refresh each billing cycle. Annual plans get the whole year of credits upfront. The free trial is one-time and doesn’t refresh.
Yes. Each spoken turn with your coach and each reply read aloud uses one coaching credit, the same as a message; if nothing was heard, the credit is returned. Scanning a scoresheet, book page or PDF uses 10 credits, or 2 if nothing readable was found or only part could be read. Reading a position from a screenshot is free.
You'll see a notice in the coach workspace. Subscribe to a plan with a monthly coaching allowance to continue.
Yes, at any time. Go to Settings → Billing and open the customer portal. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Yes. Payments are processed securely through Polar, and we never store your card details on our servers.
Refund requests are handled case by case. If you believe you were charged in error, email billing@enpasso.com and we'll review it.
Yes, on Pro and Elite. Tap the microphone in the message box and speak: your words appear as you talk, and go into the message box for you to check before you send. Under any reply, tap Listen to hear it read aloud. Elite adds hands-free voice mode, where your coach listens, answers out loud and listens again, and you can talk over it to stop it.
Talking to your coach and hearing replies read aloud come with Pro and Elite. Hands-free voice mode comes with Elite. On a plan that does not include a voice control you can still tap it to see what it does and how to get it.
No. Your speech is turned into text while you talk, and we do not save the audio. The text becomes a normal message in your chat and is stored like anything you type. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
Yes. Go to Settings → Coach → Speaking voice and pick one of four voices; you can hear each one before you choose.
Yes, on Pro and Elite. Tap + in the chat, choose Scan or photo, then A handwritten scoresheet. Lay the sheet flat in good light and fill the frame. It is read by AI, with a second reader double-checking where it can, and every move is checked against the rules of chess. You then review the game, tap any move to change it, and moves that could not be read are left for you to pick. Nothing is saved until you confirm, and the photo is not stored.
Yes, on Pro and Elite. Under Scan or photo, choose A book page or screenshot of moves, or A PDF. For a PDF you choose the pages to read, up to 10 at a time, using the page numbers your PDF viewer shows. The PDF stays on your device and only the pages you pick are sent to be read. Lines that start from a diagram, and old descriptive notation such as P-K4, are not supported yet.
Yes, on every plan and at no cost. Tap + in the chat, choose Scan or photo, then A board position. The picture is read on your device and is not uploaded, then shown on a board for you to check and correct before you open it. A screenshot of an online board or a book diagram works best; photos of a real board are not supported yet.
It can happen: handwriting, print quality and unusual piece sets all affect it. Everything is shown to you first, with the moves or squares it was unsure about marked, and you correct them before anything is saved.
Go to Settings → Platforms and click "Connect Lichess". You'll be redirected to Lichess to authorise the connection. Once connected, you can import your games directly.
Enpasso requests read access to your Lichess game history. We do not request permission to play games on your behalf or access private messages.
Go to Settings → Platforms and click "Disconnect". This removes the connection and deletes the stored access token.

Most players use Enpasso for daily game review and training between (or instead of) human coaching sessions.

Yes. Go to Settings → Coach Personality and choose from five styles: Balanced, Encouraging, Strict, Analytical, or Socratic. Each changes the tone and teaching approach.
Yes. Your coaching conversations are saved and available when you return to the coach workspace. You can start a new session at any time.
